Man with his Morris Minor- Galle
The Morris Minor car is a Britannia classic. This small automobile was post-war Britain's most popular vehicle with about 1.3 million manufactured between 1948 & 1972 which made it the first UK produced car to sell more than 1 million units. From the early 1960s to the early 1980s, Sri Lanka prohibited importing new vehicles, (excluding even agricultural equipment), so due to this ban, car accident damage or repairs had to be done locally. Today in Sri Lanka, the Morris Minor remains extremely popular. The Durable Car Company near Galle has almost 25 skilled craftsmen who make 89 parts for the Minor which has been out of production for almost 45 years.
