Tea Picker- Labookellie
Tea Picker- Labookellie
After so many centuries over which tea has been produced, it has been determined that with their smaller fingers, women have the necessary dexterity required to pluck tea leaves the most swiftly & efficiently. In the 19th Century, the British East India Company brought Tamil women from Southern India to work as tea pickers. The country's tea picking labor force remains dominated by these "Estate Tamils". These women still believe animist spirits thrive among these verdant bushes & after tasting the heavenly tea produced here, I think they may be right.
